VISUALmpeg - MPEG-2 / AVC Video Analyser

The VISUALmpeg tool set enables video-coding analysis and picture-quality measurements of both classic MPEG-2 Video streams and the latest AVC streams (H.264 / MPEG-4 part 10).
Streams can be recorded with any of DekTec's PCI or USB-2 adapters and analysed off-line. VISUALmpeg shows in-depth video-encoding details including macroblock coding modes and types, quantised coefficients, motion vectors etc. The quality-analysis module computes a quality- and distortion index for each encoded picture, and shows these indices alongside momentaneous bit rate and the number of bits per frame.
These tools are a must-have for anyone seriously involved in video coding. The AVC tools are temporarily available at a special introductory price.

Linux Drivers for FantASI USB-2 Adapters

Linux support for DekTec interface adapters has been extended to the FantASI USB-2 adapters. The drivers requires Linux kernel 2.6.8 or better. Support is included for both the DTU-205 ASI/SDI output and the DTU-225 ASI/SDI input adapter.
The drivers are available as part of the Linux SDK. An rpm installation package is available for the popular Mandrake 10.1 distribution. Support for other Linux distributions will follow later in 2005.

Stuffing Support in DTC-300 StreamXpress

A powerfull option has been added to the DTC-300 StreamXpress to play out streams at a higher rate than the rate at which the Transport-Stream had been created. The output stream is automatically stuffed with null packets and PCR time stamps are adjusted to fit the new rate.
Another new feature added to the StreamXpress software is direct entry of the symbol rate for modulator cards. Together with the stuffing option, this allows play-out at a given symbol rate, independent of the TS rate of the source file.

DtLoop - Transport-Stream Routing between DekTec Adapters

DtLoop is a new, free utility to "loop" a Transport Stream from one DekTec adapter to another. The principal goal of DtLoop is to create a modulators with a real-time input via e.g. DVB-ASI. Another application is to convert from DVB-SPI to DVB-ASI or vice-versa.
The GUI allows selection of input and output adapter. All DekTec PCI- and USB adapters can be used. When a modulator is selected as destination adapter, controls appear to set the RF-upconverter frequency and modulation parameters. The input status and bit rate of the incoming Transport Stream are shown real-time in a large "LED" display.
