At InterBEE 2007, the largest broadcast exhibition in Japan, the complete range of DekTec hardware and software solutions was on display. A highlight on the booth was the real-time broadcasting of a 1-segment mobile TV and an ISDB-T HDTV signal using DekTec's real-time multiplexer product: the MuxXpert. The hardware configuration consisted of DTA-160 adapter receiving several ASI and IP and a DTA-115 for ISDB-T modulation.
Another featured product was the advanced recording application DtGrabber+, integrated in a mission-critical rack server to demonstrate continuous recording of four simultaneous ASI streams in 1U through DekTec DTA-124 adapters, the recording being monitored through SNMP.
"The point during this exhibition was to spark the imagination of our customers, by showing the large range of application that can be achieved using DekTec solutions. From multiple-source acquisition and formatting, to SI insertion and remultiplexing, TS analysis, monitoring and recording, upto the final modulation stage toward STB or mobile receiver, there is no system nor function that cannot be achieved", says Jiro Fukushima, Director of Village Island, DekTec's distributor in Japan.
"Our collaboration with a large number of partners and system integrators is a key factor to realise our end-users broadcast needs within technical and budget constraints. All this is possible only thanks to DekTec's flexible approach toward TS processing and ready-to-integrate hardware, software and API" he added.
DekTec, the premier supplier of professional digital-TV tools, has opened a new office in China. The Shanghai office will provide local sales and services to support the growing Chinese market demand for digital-TV equipment.
"China is currently the fastest growing economy in the world and we have seen that the rapid growth transcends into its digital TV sector. In addition to equipment for TV head-ends and DTV factories, there has been an increased demand to address the needs of R&D activities within the domestic market," stated Mr. Jiang from DekTec China. "By providing direct support to DekTec's customers in China, we can ensure professional service to the highest standards".
In appreciation of the growing importance of China, DekTec launched the world's 1st DMB-T/H Modulator PCI card for Chinese DTV at CCBN2007. The multi-standard modulator card DTA-115 now supports both Multi-Carrier (DMB-T/H) and Single-Carrier (ADTB-T) modes as defined in GB20600-2006.
The Shanghai office complements DekTec China's offices in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and other distributor's offices in Beijing and Suzhou. DekTec's footprint now covers the most important China DTV territories.
This week DekTec has released a beta-version of a completely renewed LinuxSDK. The SDK includes a new driver for DekTec's range of PCI and PCI-Express cards, a network driver for the DTA-160 and an updated version of the DTAPI, DekTec's C++ hardware-abstraction API.
This update of the Linux SDK adds support for:
- All modulation modes on all modulation cardsThe new Linux SDK is available as a beta version on the driver-downloads page. Please note that this version of the SDK does not include the USB driver. USB support will be added in the final SDK.

From 30th October to 2nd November 2007, a series of events and animations took place in the Belgian Embassy in Tokyo. To meet the latest anti-earthquake regulations the Embassy has to be rebuilt. So to celebrate its remarkable architecture for one last time, music concerts, film projections and several official receptions were hosted.
To permit all visitors to appreciate events anywhere in the property, and to impress them with the latest technology, a life HD video stream was broadcasted to numerous HD displays throughout the building and the wide garden. The HD Transport Stream was multiplexed and had SI inserted using DekTec DTC-700 MuxXpert and modulated with the DTA-115-ISDBT.
"This event was a great opportunity to demonstrate to our end users how DekTec hardware and software can be combined to achieve real local broadcasting. Only DekTec equipment can offer this kind of cost-performance ratio and satisfy our professional users.
During the coming InterBEE exhibition (Nov 20th-22nd), we will go one step further by offering a 1-segment local broadcasting within our InterBEE booth, says Michael Van Dorpe, Managing Director of Village Island, DekTec's distributor in Japan.
"Only DekTec could offer us a compact and efficient way to broadcast HD video and audio streams toward numerous displays scattered around the building, and all this through a single coaxial cable", says Jan De Bock, chief organiser of the "Old Embassy" event.

DekTec demonstrated a full product line to support the digital cable market at the ICTC2007 show. Products shown include transport stream generation (DTA-105), software multiplexing (MuxXpert), stream monitoring and analyzing (DTA-124 and StreamXpert).
"Most of the middleware and interactive service providers have already adopted or are interested to adopt our products for local cable head-ends", said Mr. Jiang from DekTec China.
"DekTec produces reliable and cost-saving PCI/USB cards for broadcasting systems. Today interactive service like VOD, IPPV, Gaming and other value-added services are crucial for operator's success to increase revenue."
For example, the DTA-124 can record or monitor up to 4 DVB-ASI streams simultaneously in a single PCI card. It is easy to reproduce the A/V signal through the PCI modulator card DTA-115 which directly outputs a DVB-C RF signal.
At the show, the USB box DTU-245 with the popular stream analyzer software StreamXpert quickly became the visitors's favorite. It is easy for engineers to playback or record ASI/SDI streams in the field through the combination of the DTU-245 and a notebook PC.
At CCBN, DekTec proudly presents a low-cost PCI-Card modulator for DTMB, the new Chinese National Standard for Digital Terrestrial TV Broadcasting. DekTec has managed to provide support for this new standard in a timely fashion thanks to its local technology partner NexDigita in Shenzhen, China. The implementation supports all system parameters defined in DTMB.

DTMB is an option for the DTA-110T, an UHF modulator for QAM- & OFDM-based modulation modes, and for DekTec's new DTA-115, a truly universal modulator card with VHF and UHF upconverter, programmable output level up to 0dBm, DVB-ASI port and support for DVB-C, DVB-H, DVB-T, QAM Annex A/B/C, ISDB-T and now DTMB too!
The PCI Express standard has been introduced in 2004 with the goal to replace the PCI bus, which currently is the dominant bus for adding expansion cards to a PC. This new standard features a significantly improved performance when compared to the PCI bus. For instance a typical PCI bus has a maximum data throughput of approximately 1Gbps, whereas PCI Express has a scalable performance model with data rates starting at 2.0Gbps and ranging all the way up to 64Gbps.
An additional significant advantage of PCI Express is that unlike PCI the available bandwidth does not have to be shared with other expansion cards giving each PCI Express card the option to fully utilise the available bandwidth. Thanks to this huge performance potential, PCI Express is expected to soon become the dominant expansion bus for PCs.
With today's introduction of the DTA-2145 DekTec is getting ready for the future and affirming its ambition to remain a leading provider of PC based Digital-TV interface cards. This new adapter features one dedicated ASI/SDI output and one bi-directional ASI/SDI port. Thanks to the bi-directional port the DTA-2145 can be used either as full-duplex ASI/SDI input + output card or as two independent ASI/SDI outputs.
The DTA-2145 is shipped with both a low-profile and a standard-profile bracket. The low-profile bracket enables insertion of the card in servers with low-profile PCI Express slots.
