DTA-2178 - Eight 12G-SDI Ports on Low-Profile PCIe

Creating PC applications with a high SDI or ASI count has never been easier and more cost effective. The DTA-2178 offers eight 12G-SDI/ASI ports (plus genlock) on a low-profile PCIe card.

All ports support ASI or SDI, allowing mixed compressed/uncompressed applications such as software-based multiviewers, or dual 4K decoders or encoders with ASI and 2x 12G-SDI I/O.

This card completes our highly successful Colorado line of attractively priced SDI cards. The DTA-2178 is ready to ship in limited quantities.

ATSC 3.0 Audio/Video Decoding in StreamXpert

With StreamXpert, you can now decode audio and video from an ATSC 3.0 stream, including Dolby AC4 and MPEG-H audio. In combination with the detailed analysis of ATSC 3.0 structures, this enables full analysis of an ATSC 3.0 signal.

This feature addresses the growing need for ATSC 3.0 test and measurement tools as the standard is in active use in South Korea and gaining traction in North America.

StreamXpert supports the ALP, ROUTE and MMT formats, with either real-time or non-real-time input. ROUTE and MMT are formats for transporting ATSC 3.0 services over UDP; the ALP format is used to transport ROUTE and MMT over an RF channel.

SCTE-104 Message Analysis in SdEye

SdEye has been enhanced with triggering on and decoding of SCTE-104 ad-insertion messages, which are used by broadcasters in SDI streams to indicate where in the stream advertisements can start and end, and which ads to insert.

When triggered, SdEye will decode and show the fields in the SCTE-104 message, including message number, splice-insertion type, splice-event ID, unique program ID, break duration and more.

MPEG-H Audio Decoding and Metadata Analysis

MPEG-H audio is an exciting new audio-coding standard that uses 'audio objects' with specific positions in space. By sending separate audio channels and objects to the end device and mixing the streams there, the best audio experience can be achieved for every situation.

StreamXpert can analyze MPEG-H audio in both OTT and transport streams. The analyzer provides an in-depth view of the structure of the MPEG-H stream.

DekTec Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary!

DekTec Digital Video was founded at the start of the millennium in 2000 by Sito Dekker and Maarten Ghijsen. The first product, the DTA-100 ASI Output for PCI, was designed by Maarten and hand soldered by Sito in his attic room.

The year 2000 was also the beginning of the euro, and the time when the internet took off. PCs became powerful enough to run digital video applications in real time. These factors contributed to DekTec's rapid growth into a major supplier of professional PC interfaces and digital-video test & measurement tools.

A groundbreaking product is the DTU-245, the first model of which was introduced in 2004. Customers soon referred to it as "the DekTec". It sold like hot cakes and continues to be sold today.

The DTU-245 was bundled with StreamXpress (test generator) and StreamXpert (stream analyzer), now the industry-standard T&M applications in the professional digital-video world.

Another landmark product for DekTec is the DTU-315 portable modulator for all relevant digital-TV transmission standards used in the world. The design is a combination of smart software technology by Fabrice Bellard, advanced RF hardware and bold industrial design.

The modulators have enabled DekTec to become the world's leading supplier of test modulators and receivers. DekTec is still actively involved in the development of new standards, currently ATSC 3.0.

In recent years, the development focus has shifted to products for developers (OEM). An extensive range of PCIe cards for ASI and SDI interfacing has been created, culminating in the DTA-2178, described in the first article of this newsletter.

Despite the current difficult times, DekTec is able to continue to manufacture and ship products in sufficient quantities to meet the demands of our customers. An impressive pipeline of new products is under development, including 10/25-GbE and HDMI 2.x interfaces. We are confident you will enjoy these new products, and that this will allow DekTec to further strengthen its leading position in the professional digital-video market.
